This course will help bridge the gap between complex electronics and simple set-up, diagnostics and repair of variable-speed technology. It will also cover how the motors are programmed, basic ECM technology, and how the motor is able to achieve constant airflow, in addition to the efficiency and comfort benefits of using ECM motors and two stage HVAC equipment. The knowledge gained in this course will help all technicians, install, service and maintenance, build confidence and competence when working with ECM motors.
This course is designed to be a refresher for technicians that have been in the field for a minimum of 2 to 3 years and have had some formal education in HVAC. Core information as well as electrical, tools and measurements, installation, design, codes, safety and regulations, and air distribution will be covered in practice tests for all NATE exams in both Service and Installation Specialty. In addition one specialty practice test will be covered.
This test session can run on a consecutive day with the NATE Refresher Course or stand alone. No materials are needed or allowed. Typically two of any of the exams can be finished in one four hour test session. Two week pre-registration is required for ordering of the tests.
